Replacement Gas Springs (struts) for the poptop roof on 1995 - 2003 EuroVan Camper by Winnebago.

Not compatible with the MV Weekender Westfalia roof.

Available in 4 versions:

original replacement has 100 pounds of lift per side
heavy duty has 110 pounds of lift per side
original locking has 100 pounds of lift and a locking mechanism
heavy duty locking has 110 pounds of lift and a locking mechanism

We do not recommend ordering 2 locking version poptop struts for the same vehicle. The locking mechanism must be pressed in while closing the roof. Having 2 locking struts will make it difficult for one person to close the poptop by themself.

Sold individually. If your springs are 5 years old or older, replacing them will make it easier to lift and will solve any sagging. Use the heavy-duty style if you need just a bit more lift. Heavy-duty springs may help if you have a cargo carrier installed and you want to lift the roof when the carrier is empty. Heavy-duty style struts will make it easier to lift your roof, but they will also take a bit more effort to close it. We do not recommend opening the roof with a loaded roof rack. Replace struts in pairs (order 2).

The pop top struts where a perfect replacement for the decaying ones of my 1997 VW camper. The price was right and they arrived quickly. I had shopped around and bought two other struts which did not fit and were more expensive until I found the Euro Campers website. Big thanks.

New Pop top struts

I got these mailed to me and they arrived quickly. The price was right and they have done the trick in my 97 Eurovan. I popped the old ones off and installed the new ones. I ended up using a winch to compress them down about an inch. VERY happy with the new struts.

The strutc appear to match the original items. As was previously metioned installation can be a bit challenging. Check GoWesty under Eurovan camper struts for a video showing a helpful method for installation.

Work great (installation is a little tricky)

Installed 2 of these on my '99 EuroVan Camper, one at a time. After attaching the bottom of the strut, instead of trying to compress the strut by an inch or so to fit on the top, I unfastened the screws holding the fabric walls to allow the popup top to go up a little so I could attach the top end of the strut.

Work great

Great replacement for the failing struts in my 96 Eurovan Camper. Needed to winch them down a bit to click them in but that wasn't difficult. Got one with the lock for peace of mind.

Poptop struts

These work fine if you have no box or extra load on the roof. They come with no installation instructions. You cannot compress them by hand! So, to install, pop the top and have someone help you and hold it up. Remove the old strut. Attach the new strut on the Poptop first. Wedge the other end in and against to lower attachment point. Make sure the opening on strut is facing out. Have your helper pull the roof down while you hold the strut with both hands. Make sure you have the keeper removed and when compressed, have the helper raise the roof while you quickly press the strut onto the ball. Might take a try or two.

Q: We ordered original style gas spring for poptop item 108998-06-000 for my eurovan camper year 2001. Why does it not compress down?

A: It will take 100 pounds of force to compress these gas springs. You would need to push very hard on them up against a hard surface. You will need to compress them slightly to install. We suggest a ratchet strap wrapped around the spring, or check youtube for methods using sash cord.

A: Hi Allan,

Unfortunately, this item only fits the EuroVan Camper by Winnebago. We do not have a poptop spring for the Westy model at this time.
