Questions and Answers
Replacement Gas Springs (struts) for the poptop roof on 1995 - 2003 EuroVan Camper by Winnebago.
These do not fit the Westfalia roof.
Heavy duty locking style strut has 110 pounds lift per spring. Order 1 locking strut and either one original non-locking or one heavy duty non-locking strut. If your springs are 5 years old or order, the original style will make it easier to lift and will solve any sagging. Use the heavy duty style if you need just a bit more lift.
Heavy duty springs may help if you have a cargo carrier installed and you want to lift the roof when the carrier is empty. Heavy duty style will make it easier to lift your roof, but they will also take a bit more effort to close it. We do not recommend opening the roof with a loaded roof rack. Replace struts in pairs (order 2)
.
Our locking struts do not require you to push up on the roof to engage the lock. One of our competitors uses locking struts that require pushing up on the roof and possibly ripping your canvas.
Usually ships by the next business day. Please allow 1-5 additional days for delivery to most locations. Express shipping available.

Huge improvement
Ordered one locking HD strut and one non-locking HD strut for a '95 EVC. Pop-top essentially lifts itself now (old ones were completely shot). Takes modest effort to get top down. "Heavy duty" may be overkill for me (no topper or rack and no intention of installing one) but I do lift the top when loaded with snow during the winter. And I've been 'sandwiched' in the middle of the night due to wet, spring snowfall so I like the idea of the locking feature. Definitely need some mechanical advantage to compress these springs for installation. There is a nifty video online demonstrating use of some p-cord and a cam strap. Quite simple with the right tools. Shipment prompt and accurate.

Interested in these heavier duty gas strings. I have the 100 lb locking gas springs from GoWesty Are these the same locking gas strings as GoWesty just more lifting power?

A:
Sorry we have no information on the other companies product. We use the original manufacture same as Winnebago and this heavy duty version has an increase of 10lbs.

Q:
What is the extended length of the strut?
Asked by:
Jake
- 4/18/2024
A:
Hello,
This strut is approximately 28" long and is made to the original specs, just with the locking mechanism and 10% stronger. It will only fit the EuroVan Camper by Winnebago and will not work with the Weekender.

Q:
Why not order two, locking type gas springs? Are they too strong to pull down if two are used? My wife was nearly knocked unconscious by the falling top hiting her on the head! Are there 'electric' springs? Cost is not an issue; safety is!
Asked by:
Dan
- 9/7/2024
A:
Two of the locking poptop stuts can be used together, but would always require 2 people to close the poptop. The locking mechanisms each must be pressed at the same time in order to close the poptop.
