Didn't do it ourselves...
We had these window coverings in our RV so we knew we wanted them in our recently purchased boat. We made the measurements, but didn't have the project space to cut the material nor the expertise to sew on the edging. A local canvas shop did a great job with that, and we're very happy with the result.

Thermal for windows
I haven't made them yet- but think the thickness of the material will really make a difference in heat in RV. I thinking of using velcro to fasten to window ( like the EZ pass )instead of suction cups. Should be done in June.

Q:
Do you recommend flipping these seasonally? In other words, put the material side against the windshield in the winter months and the shiny, reflective side for the summer months? Will the shiny reflective side allow too much heat to build up and potentially crack the windshield? Thanks!

You can reverse these depending on the shape of your windows. We have not heard of any issues with these causing windows to crack.

The grommets snap together. You can mark a hold using the grommet as a template and cut an opening.

What are the dimensions of the fabric piece? Surprised it’s not listed here with the item information. Also can you describe each of the seven layers please? What type of fabric, batting, etc

Dimensions are listed in the product description. The 7 layers are 1 layer outer reinforced & coated mylar, 2 inner layers of polyester batting, 2 inner layers of mylar, 1 inner layer foam matting, 1 outside layer vinyl material.

Any idea of the R value? Just trying to see how much they help with cold.

A:
R value can not be tested since this is a residential standard for insulation installed in a stud wall with air space. This 7 layer material is best window insulation we have found.
