The Clesana X1 ProCharge is the off-grid-focused upgrade of Clesana's waterless sealing toilet. It does everything the standard X1 does — welding each use into a medical-grade barrier film, no water, no chemicals, no dump stations — and adds an integrated charging circuit for Einhell 18V Power X-Change batteries . Run the toilet on shore power or 12V, and your spare Einhell battery tops up automatically. No separate charger, no extra gear in your electrical cabinet, no scrambling to rotate batteries between the toilet and the charger before a trip.
At EuroCampers, we've been outfitting US van-life and camper builds with European accessories since 1997 . If you're doing long dispersed-camping trips or overland expeditions, ProCharge is the model we recommend — the integrated charging eliminates a real logistical headache and pays for itself the first time you realize you're deep in the back country with a dead Einhell battery and no way to charge it.
What the ProCharge Adds
Integrated Einhell 18V charging. Slot your Einhell Power X-Change battery into the dedicated charging receptacle. When the toilet is plugged into 12V, 24V, or 110–240V AC, the battery charges automatically. When you unplug, the toilet runs off the battery. It's the closest thing to a self-sustaining off-grid toilet loop on the market.
Why it matters. The regular X1 requires you to carry and manage a separate Einhell Power X-Change charger. If you're a van-lifer on a weekend trip, that's fine. If you're three days into the Utah back country and your charger got left at home, the ProCharge becomes the difference between a working toilet and a non-working one.
Buying from an authorized US Clesana dealer matters — especially on the ProCharge. The integrated charging circuit is the most sophisticated part of this unit. If anything ever goes wrong in the 2-year warranty window, we handle it here in the US . You're not shipping a toilet back across the Atlantic.

How the Clesana X1 ProCharge Works
The core toilet function is identical to the base X1: a roll of medical-grade high-barrier film lines the bowl, and after each use you press the flush button. The ProCharge heat-welds the film shut around the waste in about 90 seconds , drops the sealed pouch into a removable drawer, and stages the next section of film. Clesana recommends emptying the drawer after each use — the sealed pouch can be disposed of in ordinary household waste — check your local waste-management regulations first, as a small number of US municipalities have rules about human waste in landfills. No water. No chemicals. No dump station. No tank to pump out.

Odor-free
No water. No chemicals. No dump stations. Plus, on the ProCharge — no separate battery charger.
Clesana's high-barrier film was tested by Germany's Fraunhofer IVV Institute (Report ME-1051-25, January 2025) against the closest name-brand alternative. The result: Clesana's film delivers a 2,200× better oxygen barrier and up to 34× better water-vapor barrier . That's not marketing math — that's lab-measured. You can read Clesana's write-up of the Fraunhofer results here .
What Makes the ProCharge Different
Integrated Einhell 18V Charging PROCHARGE
Dedicated charging receptacle for Einhell Power X-Change 18V batteries. When the toilet is on shore power or DC, the battery charges automatically. No separate charger required.
Telescoping Design
Collapses to 302 mm (11.9") for storage; extends to a comfortable 407 mm (16") seat height in one motion. Fits under dinettes and inside cabinets no other RV toilet can match.
Medical-Grade Barrier Film
Originally developed for clinical applications. Lab-tested by the Fraunhofer Institute for odor-barrier performance far beyond any camping-market alternative.
Four Power Inputs
12V DC, 24V DC, 110–240V AC, or an Einhell 18V battery. Same unit works in vans, RVs, cabins, boats, and expedition rigs.
Residential Seat Height
Supports up to 150 kg (330 lb). Adult seat height in use. None of the crouched, low-seat compromise of most portable units.
Quiet and Discreet
The sealing cycle runs for about 90 seconds. The toilet draws a maximum of 140 W and uses just 1.7 Wh per cycle — a low-wattage motor designed for indoor use in RVs, vans, and liveaboards.
Four Power Inputs — Plus an Integrated Charger
The ProCharge accepts the same four power sources as the standard X1. The difference is what happens to your Einhell battery when you're plugged in: on the ProCharge, it gets topped up automatically. On the standard X1, you'd need to carry and use a separate Einhell Power X-Change charger.
12V DC Included car adapter, 2 m cable. Perfect for vans and RVs.
24V DC Heavy-duty DC systems, Class C and Class A RVs.
110–240V AC Universal-voltage adapter included. Use at home, cabins, shore power.
Einhell 18V + Auto-Charge Run on battery when off-grid, then top up automatically when you reconnect power. Battery sold separately.
Important — the Einhell 18V battery is not included. You'll need at least one Einhell Power X-Change battery to take advantage of the ProCharge's integrated charging. We recommend a 4 Ah battery, which seals roughly 40–50 cycles per full charge. The ProCharge charges only Einhell Power X-Change batteries — it will not charge other brands or external 12V/24V battery banks.
About the AC adapter plug. Clesana ships the ProCharge with a European-style plug on the AC cord. The adapter is universal voltage (100–240V) and works on US wall power — you just need a simple plug-shape adapter (the small travel kind, not a voltage converter) to go from the European plug to a US outlet. These run about $5–10 on Amazon or any travel store.

Who Should Buy the ProCharge Instead of the X1
The ProCharge is the right call if you meet any of these:
You camp off-grid for days at a time. Integrated charging means your Einhell battery stays ready without babysitting a separate charger.
You don't already own an Einhell Power X-Change charger. The ProCharge is the charger — you save $40–60 not buying one, which shrinks the $150 price difference.
Your electrical cabinet is tight. One device doing two jobs means one fewer thing to mount, wire, and store.
You're building a true expedition or overland rig. Self-sustaining systems are the point.
You're a liveaboard boater or tiny-home owner. The toilet becomes part of your power ecosystem, not a separate gadget.
If you spend most of your time on shore power, already own an Einhell charger, or want to save $150, the standard Clesana X1 is the smarter pick.
Installation Options
Mounting is identical to the standard X1 — Clesana documents three methods in the manual. Pick the one that matches your vehicle or build:
Metal screws from below (rack-mount). The four metal screws already on the bottom of the unit are removed and re-used to fasten the toilet to a rack system from underneath. Best for RV and motorhome builds with an accessible subfloor rail or rack.
Wood screws from above (wood panels or solid surfaces). Remove the drawer and lower basin, drill four mounting holes at the marked centering points on the outer side of the basin, reinstall the basin, position the ProCharge, mark the holes in your floor, pre-drill, and drive lens-head wood screws up through the bottom of the lower basin into the surface. The standard approach for Sprinter, ProMaster, and Transit conversions into a plywood subfloor.
Clesana floor-mounting system. A quick-release lock-and-release base that screws into the floor. Drop the ProCharge onto the base, lock it for travel, unlock to lift the toilet off for storage or cleaning. Sold separately — not included in the scope of delivery.
Whichever method you pick, the ProCharge must be secured for travel — it's not designed to be left freestanding in a moving vehicle. Need help matching a mounting method to your specific build? Call us at 636-337-7700 .
Running Costs & Consumables
Consumables are identical to the standard X1: Clesana barrier film (sold in 2-roll packs, approximately 100–120 uses per pack ), plus optional super-absorber sachets if you want extra liquid control. The ProCharge saves you one recurring purchase compared to the X1 — you don't need a separate Einhell Power X-Change charger (which runs roughly $40–60 on its own).
ProCharge vs Standard Clesana X1
Not sure whether the $150 upgrade to ProCharge is worth it? Here's the honest breakdown:
Feature

Short version: if you already own an Einhell Power X-Change charger and mostly camp on shore power, save the $150 and get the standard X1 . If you're going off-grid for days at a time or don't own an Einhell charger yet, the ProCharge is the right call.
What Our Customers Say
The ProCharge is a newer model, so our first US customer reviews are still coming in. In the meantime, here's a recent review from a customer who bought the Clesana C1 — the toilet function is identical across the Clesana line, so her experience carries over:
"We purchased this toilet based on the described ease of use and disposal. My husband installed it in our 2026 ProMaster 2500 Wayfarer van. We just used it for one week in our van and we LOVE IT! It is pricey BUT well worth it in my opinion."

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the ProCharge actually charge, and how?
The ProCharge has a dedicated receptacle for Einhell 18V Power X-Change batteries. Slot a compatible Einhell battery into the receptacle. When the toilet is connected to shore power (110–240V AC) or vehicle DC (12V or 24V), the battery charges automatically in the background. When you disconnect external power, the toilet runs off the Einhell battery. You never have to carry a separate Einhell charger.
Does the ProCharge charge other brands of battery?
No. The integrated charger is designed specifically for Einhell Power X-Change 18V batteries. It will not charge other brands, other Einhell platforms, or external 12V/24V battery banks.
Is the Einhell battery included?
No. The Einhell 18V Power X-Change battery is sold separately and is required to use the integrated charging feature. We recommend a 4 Ah battery, which seals approximately 40–50 cycles per full charge. The AC and DC adapters are included so you can use the toilet without a battery if you have wall or vehicle power.
Is the ProCharge worth $150 more than the standard X1?
It is if you camp off-grid for multiple days at a time, don't already own an Einhell Power X-Change charger, or want to eliminate a separate piece of charging gear from your setup. A standalone Einhell Power X-Change charger runs roughly $40–60, so the net upgrade cost is closer to $90–110 if you'd be buying the charger anyway. If you mostly camp on shore power, save the money and get the standard Clesana X1 .
Is the Clesana X1 ProCharge in stock in the USA right now?
Stock status is shown above the Add-to-Cart button on this page. When units are on the shelf, we ship free from our Missouri warehouse, usually the same business day for orders placed before our shipping cutoff. When a shipment is in transit, we publish a firm restock date and you can join the waitlist to be notified as soon as it's available.
How does the sealing process work?
Same as the standard X1. After each use you press the flush button, and the toilet heat-welds a medical-grade barrier film around the waste over about 90 seconds. The sealed pouch drops into a removable drawer. Clesana recommends emptying the drawer after each use — pull it out, drop the sealed pouch into ordinary household waste (check local waste-management regulations — a small number of US municipalities have rules about human waste in landfills), reinsert. No water, no chemicals, no dumping.
Do I need water or chemicals?
No. The ProCharge is fully waterless and uses no chemicals — just Clesana barrier film, with optional super-absorber sachets if you want extra liquid control.
How loud is the ProCharge?
Clesana does not publish a decibel figure, but the unit is engineered for indoor, in-cabin use. The sealing motor runs for about 90 seconds on a 140 W peak draw, and the integrated ProCharge circuit itself adds no audible noise when charging an Einhell battery.
Will the ProCharge fit in my Sprinter / ProMaster / Transit van build?
Stowed, the ProCharge is 302 × 344 × 384 mm (11.9 × 13.5 × 15.1 inches) — identical to the standard X1. Extended seat height is 407 mm (16 in). It fits under dinettes, in cabinets, and in dedicated cubbies in most van builds. Call us at 636-337-7700 if you want help confirming fit for your specific rig.
Is there a warranty, and who handles it?
Yes — a 2-year manufacturer warranty covers both the toilet and the integrated charging circuit. EuroCampers handles warranty service for US customers in-house. You call us, not Clesana in Europe. With the ProCharge having an extra electronic system on board, this is an even bigger deal than on the standard X1.
Can I return the Clesana X1 ProCharge?
Yes, with conditions. Because this is a hygiene product, returns are limited to unopened units with the tamper-evident seal intact , within 30 days of delivery. A 15% restocking fee and return shipping apply. Used or opened units are non-returnable. Defects are covered by the 2-year manufacturer warranty, handled by us in the US.
Can I install the ProCharge in a boat or tiny home?
Yes. The ProCharge is splash-resistant (IPX4) and works anywhere you have access to 12V, 24V, or 110–240V power. Many owners pair it with a small Einhell battery stash for overnight autonomy, recharging during the day when shore power or engine/solar DC is available.
What about disposal — can I really put sealed pouches in the trash?
The sealed pouches are leak-proof and odor-sealed, and Clesana's guidance is to dispose of them in ordinary household waste. A handful of US municipalities have specific rules about human waste in landfills — check your local waste-management regulations if you're unsure.

Since 1997 — The US Home for European Van & Camper Gear
EuroCampers has been selling European van and camping accessories to US buyers for over 25 years. We carry what we carry because we use it, install it in our own rigs, and stand behind it. On a product like the ProCharge — which is both a toilet and a battery charger — the value of a US-based authorized dealer isn't theoretical. It's the phone call you make when something isn't behaving the way it should.
