Sportscraft Swivels and Lowered Seat Bases: Crash Tested versus Pull Tested, FMVSS, CMVSS, TÜV Approval

Sportscraft Lowered Seat Bases for RAM ProMaster and Sportscraft Swivel Seat Adapters for 2019 and newer Sprinter vans have been pull-tested to meet the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 207 & 210, and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 207 & 210, and are also TÜV approved. This is the standard for aftermarket automotive accessories. It's a misnomer to say that swivels are "crash-tested".

A pull test is performed by pulling a swivel adapter with a specific level of force for a period of time to make sure that it will withstand that amount of force.

Why is it important that a swivel is tested for both 207 and 210?

207 sets the standard for the seat, which is required to remain in position while under a force equal to 20 times its weight.

210 sets the standard for the seatbelt, which is required to provide the occupant restraint under constant force.

Don't settle for a swivel that claims to only meet 207 or that fits several different makes and models. Our Sportscraft Sprinter VS30 swivels and ProMaster Lowered Seat Bases* are each made for their specific model and meet both 207 and 210 standards.

What is TÜV approval?

TÜV stands for "Technical Inspection Association" in German. TÜV is known worldwide for quality and reliable safety testing.
