Now the cover lifts as it should, on its own once the locks are released. A must if yours are getting weak, easy to install.

Highly recommend Gas Strut for Stove/Sink Cover
Highly recommend Gas Strut for Stove/Sink Cover. Came quickly, installed easily and works perfectly. A really nice feature to have the cover easily pop up .. the old strutes made it a pain to get the cover open.

Works Great
We bought our '97 Eurovan several years ago and the stove/sink top struts were in need of replacement. But one year led to another and we just tolerated the inconvenience...until this year. Replacing the struts was a simple repair and one we now wish we had done sooner. The top now floats up into position and closes gently. What an improvement!

Works perfectly
I had very old and worn out struts. I had to use the stove lid to hold up the sink cover. This was easy to replace. Just follow the video instructions. I had to change the orientation of one of the receivers, and it was all explained on the video - even before i came across the problem. Problem solved!

Replacement Gas Struts fit perfectly
Finally replaced the gas struts that hold the sink and stove cover open on our 95 Eurovan. The old cover fell down and nearly took off my wife's finger tip while on our trip to Yellowstone. That will not happen again as long as these shocks work. It is tough finding parts for the old van. Very happy and thankful you guys ones that fit and work perfectly.

STRUTS
I was finally able to replace my struts for the stovetop and sink. Taking the old ones off were easy and installing the new ones were not as easy. When popping off the little peice of the strut it popped right off. I tried this on the other one and it did the same thing (maybe I used to much force?) I ended up taking off the peices from the older strut and reusing them on the new struts. Overall super stoked to have new ones on and it opens like a breeze.

Second time around
My Eurovan is 24 years old and this is the second time I have had to replace these. It was not too hard. It maybe took me 15 minutes to install both. I did not have to compress the struts to get them to fit. I have read that some people do. Hopefully these will last another 10 years! or so.

Q:
These struts are slightly to Long,(about 3/32nds) but are impossible to compress while installing. What to do?
Asked by:
JT

A:
Attach the strut to the top mount. Us a small piece of plywood or other material to slide the bottom strut forward until you can pop it on the ball stud. The strut will compress as you slide it.

Q:
Replacement part SPD-GS-4900-40WINN…..FOR VW EUROVAN CAMPER WINNEBAGO 2001 Removed strut by unscrewing plate that attached to sink stove lid. Does this strut come with the mounting plates? If not what are the instructions for attaching new strut to old plate.
Asked by:
Wendy
- 6/7/2023
A:
Nothing more than what is in the photo is included. This would mount to your old ball stud. You need to compress the strut slightly to get it on the mount. Attach at top and use a piece of board or plywood on the cabinet to slide the bottom of the strut while you hold the lid.

Q:
How do detach old strut? Just pull? How do you attach new strut? Just push?
Asked by:
Serge Issakov
- 2/4/2024
A:
There are 3 main types of strut ends. The originals should have a pin that you carefully pry off and pull out. Another has a metal clip on the back that also will pry off. This product has an end that that pulls up to release and push down to hold it on the ball stud.
