Q: How does this support wait when it's just on the flimsy door where the bottom bolts

A: Hi Mike,

This ladder has close fitting hooks that attach over the door to secure it at the top. You would only climb the ladder when the door is closed and not exceed Ford's weight rating for the rear door.

You could also decide to upgrade the hardware and/or add a backing plate for your peace of mind. We have sold these ladders for many years without any issues.

A: The weight the ladder can support is determined by the capacity of the rear door. Use only with the door closed and latched. We do not recommend using the ladder to carry cargo.
