Genuine Clesana Part
The Clesana X1 Foil Liner Refills are the replacement foil liner rolls that keep your Clesana X1 or X1 ProCharge running. Each pack includes two rolls — each roll yields 50 to 60 sealing cycles , for 100 to 120 total uses per pack . The cassette that holds the foil is reusable and came with your toilet; only the foil liner rolls need to be replaced as you use them up.
What’s in the Pack
2 Film Rolls
Two replacement foil liner rolls per pack. Each loads onto the reusable cassette already in your X1 — no tools required.
100–120 Total Seals
50 to 60 sealing cycles per roll. For a couple using the X1 as a primary toilet on the road, one pack typically covers two to four months of use.
The cassette is reusable — only the film rolls are consumable. Your Clesana X1 shipped with a cassette already loaded. When the film runs out, slide the cassette out of the toilet, load a fresh roll, and slide it back in. No mess, no tools, under 30 seconds. The video below shows the full process.
How the Film Cassette System Works
The Clesana X1 stores a roll of high-barrier foil on a reusable cassette inside the toilet. Before each use, a fresh section of film automatically lines the bowl. After you press flush, the X1 heat-welds the film shut around the waste in about 90 seconds , and the sealed, odor-proof pouch drops into the removable drawer beneath the seat.
When a roll is finished, the cassette slides out in one step, you load a new roll from this pack, and you’re back up and running. The cassette itself is designed to last the life of the toilet — the foil liner rolls are the only thing you need to reorder.
Clesana recommends emptying the drawer after each use. The sealed pouches can be disposed of in ordinary household waste — check your local waste-management regulations first, as a small number of US municipalities have rules about human waste in landfills.
Why Genuine Clesana Film Matters
The sealed pouch your X1 produces is only as odor-proof as the film it’s made from. Clesana’s proprietary high-barrier foil has been independently tested at the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV) — one of Europe’s leading packaging research institutes — against widely used competing films (also known as film liner refills by some retailers).
Fraunhofer IVV Report ME-1051-25 (January 2025): Clesana’s bio high-barrier foil liner demonstrated 2,200× better oxygen barrier performance and up to 34× better water vapor barrier than LooSeal bio PREMIUM foil — a widely used competing film.
A stronger oxygen barrier means odor-causing gases stay sealed inside the pouch. A stronger water vapor barrier means moisture stays fully contained. Both matter in an enclosed van, RV, or cabin where a leaking pouch would be a serious problem.
Clesana’s heat-welding mechanism is calibrated specifically for this film’s thickness and material properties. Using non-genuine film may result in incomplete seals and could void your warranty. We sell only genuine Clesana film.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this pack include the cassette?
No — the cassette is reusable and ships with your Clesana X1 toilet. This 2-pack contains two replacement film rolls that load onto your existing cassette. You should not need to replace the cassette under normal use.
How many uses do I get out of one pack?
50 to 60 sealing cycles per roll — 100 to 120 total per pack. For a couple using the X1 as a primary toilet, that typically works out to two to four months of use depending on frequency.
Can I use aftermarket or third-party film refills in the X1?
Clesana does not support the use of aftermarket film. The X1’s heat-welding mechanism is calibrated for Clesana’s proprietary film thickness and material. Using non-genuine film may result in incomplete seals and could void your 2-year warranty. We stock and sell only genuine Clesana film.
Is this film compatible with the Clesana C1?
No. This refill is designed for the Clesana X1 and X1 ProCharge only . The C1 uses a different cassette system. Please verify your model before ordering.
How do I know when it’s time to replace the film roll?
The Clesana X1 will alert you when the film roll is running low. It’s a good idea to keep a spare pack on hand so you’re never caught without film on the road. One 2-pack fits easily in a storage compartment alongside your toilet.
Where do the sealed pouches go?
Clesana recommends disposing of sealed pouches in ordinary household waste. The high-barrier film ensures the pouches are fully sealed and odor-free for transport. A small number of US municipalities have restrictions on human waste in landfills — check your local waste-management rules to be sure.
